There is a joke that has a certain ironic truth in it, which goes thus: "Why worry? Either you are well, in which case there is no need to worry, or you are ill. In which case you have only two things to worry about. Either you are going to live or you are going to die. If you are going to live you have nothing to worry about. And if you are going to die, you have only two things to worry about. Are you going to go to heaven or to hell? If you are going to heaven, you have nothing to worry about. And if you are going to hell, you will be too busy shaking hands with all your friends to have time to worry".

There is a slight flaw in this story. You create your own heaven and your own hell right here in your life right now. It is unbelievably simple. Either you experience your life as being easy, effortless and abundant in every way, or you experience it as full of anxiety, panic, worry and all the other stress states that are probably a familiar part of your own personal soap opera. (Of course there is a middle ground which might be described as a dull sort of apathy. If that is your experience, you chose that too). Yes, you do have the choice. The problem is, you are a computer and you are running either a happiness programme or a worry programme. This, of course is all happening in your subconscious and while the programming is down there you don't have much chance of changing it.
